Having two dogs of our own that have had quite an assortment of dog toys (actually we buy lots) we have found many dog toys are simply not toughy enough to take the rigor and play of two very playfulful Border Collies.
After spending quite a bit on dog toys and all sorts of balls we were getting to a point where it was difficult to find a toy that would last - then we found the Cuz and Ruffian dog toy range from the JW Pet Company...
We acquired seven different Cuz and Ruffian toys for our dogs to test out and see if they could take the hard play our dogs have shown every other dog toy. The variations we obtained for testing were;

As with every purchase we make for our fir kids we always get a great happy smile from our boy Taj :)
The toys all squeak so if you are not into mild noisy toys then maybe these are not for you and your dog. We don't mind it and it actually makes it more fun especially when our boy is deliberately making noise with them when he wants to play and we are sitting in front of the box instead of playing with him :)
The Ruffian Chook, Dino and Bear squeaks are a little different to the ball shaped good and bad cuz's with the bear making a milder softer squeak and the chook makes a well er um - well my human kids call him 'farting chook' as that is the sound they think it makes - it adds to the laughter when it's in play :)
Our Border Collies (Taj and Trinity) can be quite rough on their toys, not destructuve just simply through normal play. In their general play they tug, chomp, bounce, shake and everything else between them and they have a habit of chewing off any 'xticky out bits' of any dog toys. For example Taj has a stuffed lamb and the first thing he did was chew off the horns, ears and eyes - they all stuck out a bit. The Cuz's and Ruffian's went through this treatment as well and I can say that only the chook has had any bits taken off it. Looking at the Chook picture above you can see the feet has two small balls on each leg and the beak and top head feathers. Those have all been chewed off or trimmed down but overall the chook toy is still in tip top shape and fully intact bar those few bits, see the pictures below.
All of the toys have at this stage (3 months) survived quite rough play, even tug of war between Taj and Trinity and all are still very well used every single day. In fact the Cuz and Ruffian toys are Trinity's favourites and she will gather all seven to encourage us to play and place them at our feet whether we are working, playing or relaxing... she can be a tad insistent :).
What makes a Cuz and Ruffian so great is that it takes away the predictability of ball play in that they are quite bouncy and with having feet and other bits sticking out when they bounce they can bounce in any direction which makes more fun for our dogs and a great laugh for us.
The toys have only been played with inside so I cannot comment on durability outside but I cannot see why they would not be as good outside as they are inside as they are very good quality. They are a strong rubber type compound that is very durable even after many good chomping attempts ?. While they appear strong and tough they are soft enough to bounce off furniture and windows (so far) without damage, and we have tested them very well with a cuz/ruffian or 7 being hurtled from one end of the house to the other ?.
So overall a really great product that has passed what we like to call the TNT test (Taj N’ Trinity test) with flying colours and it is great to be able to give our first product review 5 stars. We would be happy to get more Cuz’s and Ruffian's in the future and recommend to you that these are a very worthy product for anyone that is looking for a strong durable fun dog toy.
If your looking to buy your dog a Cuz and/or Ruffian may we recommend you try Vet Products Direct.
