Shar-Pei Medical Information and Health Survey Posted at 2007/11/15 08:59 Karma: 2
All Pei owners know how special and unique this wonderful breed is, but unfortunately that can sometimes lead to problems with medical treatment when vets do not have experience with some of the unique characteristics and problems that occur in Shar-Pei. Dr Jeff Vidt, a US vet with a special interest in Shar-Pei (and Chairman of the Health Through Education Committee for the Chinese Shar-Pei Club since 1991) has a lot of very good health information specific to Pei's on his website including Amyloidosis, Autoinflammatory Disease, Bloat, Familial Shar-Pei Fever(FSF), Mast Cell Cancer, Masticatory Myositis, Streptococcal Toxic Shock Syndrome(STSS) and other breed related condtiions.

The url of Dr Vidt's website is http://www.drjwv.com

Shar-Pei owners can also complete a health survey (and view the results online) which is being conducted by the 'CSPCA Health Through Education Committee' http://www.drjwv.com/health.php
