Help for the Dog Clubs Directory

This guide is provided in two parts, the first for the general user for browsing and searching the directory, the second part is for Dog Clubs that wish to register and become a part of the dogsites.com.au have an entry in our Dog Clubs Directory.

Browsing

All users of our Dog Cluibs Directory please be aware that we only list those breeds that are recognised breeds by the Australian National Kennel Council.  If the breed you are looking for is not listed please check if it is a recognised breed, if it is and we do not have it here please let us know .

Navigation of the Dog Clubs Directory is fairly simply with the top row of buttons as shown here

dogclubshelp1.gif

The Dog Clubs button will take you to the main Dog Clubs Directory home page.  The Back button (not displayed on Dog Clubs Home Page) allows the user to simply go back a page to view the previous page, the same as your back button on your web browser. The Search button takes you to the Directory search featire (see below).  Add Entry is for Dog Clubs to add their details.  The Help button brings up this page.

The Dog Clubs Directory is arranged like most parts of the dogsites.com.au website in that there is a section for each and every ANKC recognised breed.  We may if needed add an All Breeds category if it is required, please let us know.

Browsing is very simple, just select the alphabetical letter to which your chosen breed starts with and the breeds for that letter will then be provided.  You then simply select the breed you require to view all Dog Clubs for that specific breed.

Dog Club cards are displayed as s summary of information of a clubs details, selecting any of the cards (anywhere in each box) will bring up the full details of that club.  Please note you must be a member of dogsites to view contact details, this is done to reduce the possibility of email and contact detail harvesting.

Searching

Searching within the Dog Clubs Directory can be done in two main ways, one being via the main dogsites.com.au search found on the left hand side navigation menu and the in-built Dog Clubs Directory specific search function.

To access the Dog Clubs Directory specific search simply select the Search button from the top navigation links, a screen like this will appear.

dogclubshelp2.gif

The top section is simply a text box that allows you to enter your search terms, such as breed name or really anything else.  You can then select to find any of the words, all of teh words or the exact phrase, which can be useful if searching for a specific breed name.

The area underneath allows you to refine your search to specific locations, siply select the drop down lists and make your selection.  When done select the Search button provided and the results of your search will appear beneath your search criteria.

That is pretty much it for browsing and searching so enjoy and we hope you finr it useful.

Dog Clubs Guide

This guide is provided for Dog Clubs on how to add and edit their entries.

A Dog Club may only list once, however they may select up to 5 breeds to be listed in.  Please note this does not mean you have to list in all 5, please ensure you only select the correct breeds to which your club has direct links to.  We will delete duplicate entries.  Repeated double entries will result in all entries being deleted without notice.

Please also note that all entries made are reviewed by dogsites.com.au and we also encourage users of our site to advise us of any inappropriate use.

All members wishing to add an entry should ensure they read our Terms of Use before submitting their details on our Dog Clubs Directory.  Any members found to not meet the terms and conditions will have their entries deleted without notice.

OK, now the formalities are out of the way let me now show you how to use the Breeders Directory editor system.

You must first be a member of dogsites.com.au so if you have not created an account yet please do that now.

To add an entry select the Add Entry button from the navigation menu.

The standard entry enables you to have a single image displayed on the details view and also a Thumbnail image to be displayed on the card view.   For the Main Picture we suggest something that depicts your entry as it is the first image that your viewers will see, you can add more images in a gallery below this.

Simply select the Browse button to locate the photo you want on the details view, find it on your computer and select it.  The file path will be shown now in the field, it will upload later when you save the entry later.  Please note that the file size must not exceed 250kb for this image.

Card Thumbnail Image allows you to add a small thumbnail image to your card entry, this is limited to a maximum size of 120 x 120 pixels and a size of 50kb.

The next two entries are for Meta Keywords and Meta Description.  These assist your entry to be found in searches by the Dog Clubs Directory search, the dogsites.com.au search and also when search engines like Google index the dogsites.com.au website.  Do not repeat the same words if it can be helped, use words and a description that do depict exactly what your entry is.  Again miss-use will result in your entry being deleted

breeders-backTo enable individual entries to be slightly different from each other we have provided a number of different background colours for you to choose from, select the colour you wish to have your entry displayed in, if you don't like it you can change it later.

The following box is probably one of the most important sections, this is the categories, or in this case the breeds to which clubs entry will be tied to.

breeders-categoryYou will notice that you can select up to 5 categories (breeds) for free.

We however request that you only select the breed(s) to which your club does directly relate to.  Please be aware if we notice or we have been reported to about entries being in the wrong breeds we will delete all entries, including those in the correct ones.

To select the breeds, use the small boxes with the '+' (plus) signs to open up the breed letter and locate your Breed(s).  Select the breed and then to the right click on the '>>>' button to add it.

If you are listing in more than one breed category, i.e. you breed more than one breed, you can now locate the other breed and repeat the above step.

If you need to remove a selected breed simply select it and click on the '<<<' button provided.

The next part of the entry is the Gallery, however to ensure your entry is correctly added we recommend you SKIP this part at this stage and come back to it after your entry has been published.

Adding to the Gallery (after your entry has been approved and published) is a very simple process.

breeders-gallery.gif

Find an image by selecting the Browse button and locate the photo on your computer.  Add a description/caption if you want it (optional) and then select upload.

Repeat this until you have added all the photos you wish to have, a maximum of 14 images is allowed.

To be listed in the Dog Clubs Directory you must have read and understood and now agree to the terms of use.  If you are agree to the terms of use please select the terms of use select box.  Your selecting this confirms your agreement in whole to our terms of use.
